This Mom’s Hilarious Back to School Post is Oh-So Relatable
Kids may dread going back to school, but for many parents, it’s a joyous, beautiful time of year. It signals days full of quiet, and trips to the grocery store without having to break up sibling disputes in the middle of the laundry detergent aisle.
Alabama mom Jena Willingham captured the sentiment perfectly with a now-viral Facebook post. The photo depicts her kids looking glum in their backpacks and new clothes watching Mom’s elated face as she relaxes on a pool float with a drink in her hand.
Willingham explains the photo’s backstory to People saying, “My kids have been driving me crazy with their fighting over chargers and iPads all summer. I kept telling them I was going to have a pool day all by myself when they went to school because it’s the first time in 11 years I won’t have a kid home. I was counting down to school, I deserve a break!”
The post has since been shared more than 12,000 times and earned plenty of comments from other parents who are less-than-sad about seeing the summer come to a close.
