Katy Perry Speaks Out In Support Of Ellen DeGeneres
Since all of the negative allegations have come out against Ellen DeGeneres and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, not many celebrities have spoken out. But now Katy Perry has stepped up to defend her friend.
The singer wrote, “I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow. I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend.”

Under her post, there were many negative comments from fans. One user wrote, “You’re rich and well known Katy. you may have had positive experience, but her staffs & co workers have spoken out on how they are mistreated, you can not just invalidate their experience and feelings.” Another added, “You’ve only had positive takeaways because you’re one of the biggest artists on the planet Katy. That’s why.”
“Katy pls, delete this, i really love you but you have to understand your privileges, those ppl was workers and are in social classes below those of you two so there’s a lot of things to consider besides your friendship…sometimes our experiences don’t define and mean nothing,” another fan said.
Some comments were a little more positive, though. One user said, “It’s nice to see someone standing up for their friend and associate. I think the Ellen hating has become way too popular, I don’t see the justification yet. Thank you for sharing your positive experience. I’m sure you’re not alone. Hopefully more step up to speak their truths.”
Katy Perry’s new album, Smile, will be out on August 28.
