Kelly Clarkson Forgets Her Own Lyrics Again
Kelly Clarkson may have an impressive “Kellyoke” catalog and a pretty big discography, but even she has a weakness. During the talk show host’s Tuesday episode (April 30), we learned that her weakness happens to be Anne Hathaway.
Kelly Clarkson Forgets Everything When Anne Hathaway Is Involved
This is the second time Hathaway has appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The first time Hathaway was a guest was in 2022, and the two played a game called “Name That Tune.” Clarkson embarrassingly couldn’t recognize her own smash hit, “Since U Been Gone,” while Hathaway rocked the vocals. Adding insult to injury, Clarkson begged the band, “Can you play a frickin’ song I know?!”
In a different game this time, the duo played “Pop Pop Quiz,” a game where they had to guess songs based on partial lyrics. Realizing she’s bound to beat Clarkson yet again, the Idea of You star shyly says while smiling, “Oh no, it’s happening again.” In response, Clarkson joked, “Anne Hathaway is never invited back,” as she pounded her fist on the podium. Admitting her losing streak against the actress, Clarkson says it’s become a schtick between them now and completely welcomes it.
Then, game host Ambur Ruffin read a question that referenced Clarkson forgetting the lyrics to her own music, ending with a line from her song “Stronger.” Clarkson beat Hathaway to the punch this time, completing the lyrics with the word “lighter” before announcing, “That’s Christina Aguilera!” Hathaway still beat Clarkson with a final score of 13 to 2.
Clarkson later revealed to the camera, “So, you’ll notice, America, if you know my catalog at all—’cause I don’t—I thought I was singing Christina Aguilera’s song ‘Fighter,’ and I was singing mine, ‘Stronger,’ she said. “It’s one of those days. Anyway, Anne Hathaway is my kryptonite. It’s fine.”
During Hathaway’s appearance, the two talked about how iconic her last appearance on the show was. Kelly said that Hathaway’s hack for cupcake-eating is the single-most-watched video from her show of all time. Not the singing or revelations, but the cupcake hack.
Asking if Anne had any more dessert hacks, she told the crowd that if a restaurant’s bread was bad, they shouldn’t bother with their dessert. She also loves dessert so much that she orders one of everything when she goes out to eat — something she and Clarkson have in common.
