Post Malone Raves About Taylor Swift
Post Malone has had the biggest collaboration of his entire career. The rapper and singer was featured on Taylor Swift’s opening track for the newly released The Tortured Poets Department. Following the album’s weekend debut, Posty reflected on his time working with the global pop icon.
Friday’s album release also came with the accompanying music for “Fortnight,” a black-and-white video showing Swift with face tattoos that match his. The 28-year-old “Congratulations” artist took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday (April 20) to give a special shout-out to the tortured poet.

“It’s once in a lifetime that someone like @taylorswift13 comes into this world,” he wrote in the shoutout, which featured a scanned photograph of the duo, viewed over 8.8 million times. “I am floored by your heart and your mind, and I am beyond honored to have been asked to help you with your journey [teary eyed emoji] I love you so much. Thank you Tay [pink hearts emoji].”

Swift Raves About Posty And Poets
Swift, 34, echoed the sentiments of her collaborator in an Instagram post breaking down the process of their album opener. “When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music,” Swift said, featuring sepia stills from the video. “Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it.”
Of Posty, 28, Swift said he “blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration.” Also featured in the music video and in one of the carousel of photos are “coolest guys on earth” Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles, tortured poets from the classic 1989 film, Dead Poet Society, starring the late, great Robin Williams.
Tortured Poets and Dead Poets
Following the release of the single and their surprise cameos, the Dead Poet Society actors took to social media to reflect on their moment as doctors in the asylum. Charles wrote on Instagram with a photo of him and Hawke present day and back on set from their 1989 film: “Here’s a couple of tortured old poets about to board an early flight to be pop stars for a day. Been through a lot with this dude over the years, but safe to say this was a most memorable day. We were treated with such class by Taylor and her crew from beginning to end. What I’ll remember most was the laughter. There was a lot of it. Like we were 17 all over again.”
Hawke also took to Instagram to commemorate the reunion of “’Todd’ & ‘Knox’ from DEAD POETS SOCIETY,” writing that the former students are now “PhDs in THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. It’s quite an honor.” He noted at the end: “carpe diem!”
