Hailee Steinfeld Releases Emotional ‘Wrong Direction’ Video
New year, new video. Hailee Steinfeld released her new video “Wrong Direction,” which is reportedly about her ex-boyfriend Niall Horan.
In the emotional clip directed by Alexandre Moors, Steinfeld is sitting in a bathtub. The camera keeps tight on her face as she sings about her heartbreak. “I don’t hate you/No, I couldn’t if I wanted to,” she sings. “I just hate all the hurt that you put me through.” Soon, she’s singing about her partner’s infidelity, which she has forgiven, but hasn’t forgotten. “Looking back I probably should have known / But I just wanted to believe that you were out sleeping alone,” she sings.
The Dickinson star dropped her new single on New Year’s Day. Fans immediately guessed it was about her One Direction ex, who she broke up with last year after 11 months of dating.
She has yet to confirm who the song is about, but last month, Horan dropped a new ballad “Put A Little Love On Me” that was reportedly about Steinfeld. “This could potentially be my favorite song I’ve ever written,” Horan told The Sun back in September. “I’d just gone through a breakup and it was all very real. It was very easy to sit down at the piano and speak and see what happens.”
