Lizzo Will Headline This Year’s Bonnaroo Festival & Make History Doing It
Lizzo is 100% that Bonnaroo headliner. The 2020 Bonnaroo Festival lineup includes Lizzo playing the Saturday night headlining slot. The “Truth Hurts” singer is the first woman to headline the festival since it started in 2002, according to Billboard.
This comes a year after fans were disappointed that Cardi B wasn’t given headliner status at 2019 Bonnaroo. In the past few years, big festivals like Coachella have been criticized for their lack of not only female headliners, but female artists in general. Beyoncè became the first black woman to headline Coachella in 2018. Last year, Ariana Grande became only the fourth solo female artist to headline Coachella in its nearly 20-year history.
The other headliners for the festival taking place June 11-14 in Manchester, Tennessee include Tool and Tame Impala. This year’s festival includes pop acts including Miley Cyrus, The 1975, Lana Del Rey, and Nelly playing his 2000 record Country Grammer.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, Jan. 9 at noon EST.
