Mandy Moore Among Women Accusing Her Ex Husband Ryan Adams Of Abuse

Mandy Moore has accused her ex-husband, musician Ryan Adams, of emotional manipulation as part of a shocking expose from the New York Times that outlines the musician’s alleged history of abuse and sexual misconduct.
Mandy Moore, 34, told the Times that during their marriage, Ryan Adams was controlling and manipulative to the point of psychological abuse.
“Music was a point of control for him,” she told the Times. “He would always tell me, ‘You’re not a real musician, because you don’t play an instrument.'”

Moore met Adams when she was just 23 years old, during a self-described pivotal moment in her career. Adams, now 44, was ten years older and already a prolific songwriter and musician, who reportedly promised to help boost her career.
Instead, Moore said the singer isolated her from working with other producers and management, a claim which Adams denies. Moore added that the two would write songs together and he would even book studio time for her, only to replace her with other women.
“His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time — my entire mid-to-late 20s,” Moore said.
Through his lawyer, Adams said that her depiction of their marriage was “completely inconsistent with his view of the relationship.”
Moore filed for divorce from Adams in 2015 after six years of marriage.
Among the other women accusing Adams of inappropriate or abusive behavior are his ex-fiancee Meghan Butterworth, artist Courtney Jaye and musician Phoebe Bridgers.

The accusations claim that he engaged in a “pattern of manipulative behavior” where he essentially promised to help women with their careers while also trying to have sex with them. If rejected, Adams reportedly became “vengeful” and “domineering.”
One of the women, identified only as Ava to protect her identity, was just 15 years old at the time of their alleged interactions.
Adams took to Twitter Wednesday to publicly address the accusations made in the article, calling them “upsettingly inaccurate.”
“Some of its details are misrepresented; some are exaggerated; some are outright false,” he wrote. “I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage. Period.”
