Lindsey Buckingham Out Of Fleetwood Mac
Looks like Lindsey Buckingham is going his own way…or was perhaps forced to do so.
Multiple outlets have reported Buckingham is no longer with Fleetwood Mac, but reports are mixed as to how and why this split happened. Variety, who first reported the news as an exclusive, said Buckingham left the band. Rolling Stone, however, reports that Buckingham was fired due to a “disagreement over the band’s upcoming tour.”
Both outlets report Mike Campbell, lead guitarist for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn will be stepping in on Fleetwood Mac’s upcoming tour.
Fleetwood Mac issued the following group statement to media outlets:
“We are thrilled to welcome the musical talents of the caliber of Mike Campbell and Neil Finn into the Mac family. With Mike and Neil, we’ll be performing all the hits that the fans love, plus we’ll be surprising our audiences with some tracks from our historic catalogue of songs. Fleetwood Mac has always been a creative evolution. We look forward to honoring that spirit on this upcoming tour.”
We will update this story as it develops.
