Shrekfest Is A Thing, And We Want To Go
The green ogre Shrek first hit the silver screen in 2001 with a revolutionary animated movie. From there, the franchise grew to make three more movies, multiple spin-offs, television specials, television series and short films. Needless to say, this fairytale classic was a hit. Now, the cartoon’s creatures can add another accomplishment under their belts.
Fans of the series created their own fan fest called Shrekfest, where people who love the DreamWorks animation can meet up and celebrate the franchise. Those who are looking to attend the event will have to travel to the James Madison Park in Madison, Wisconsin. This event is not associated with DreamWorks, but is a fan-made celebration brought to us by the group, 3GI.
Event coordinators encourage people to dress up as their favorite character. In pictures on the website, you can see folks dressed up as Donkey and even the green ogre himself.
In addition to viewing the film, festival-goers can also purchase a series of Shrek-related food items. There is also an onion eating contest which hilariously fits into the movie’s theme!
So, if you are thinking of going next year, we definitely recommend creating a hilarious costume. Maybe the three blind mice? Or even the bearded lady? Yeah, we are throwing you some major throwbacks!
