Have you read the Venus and Tripp story from Humans of New York yet? It’s completely wild. If you haven’t, let’s bring you up to speed.
First, Humans of New York is an amazing photo and story project that started in November of 2010. New York City photographer Brandon Stanton would go around the city and take portraits of people and let them tell their stories. Those stories were then shared on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Many of the stories were heartbreaking, or inspiring, and Stanton’s work grew a MASSIVE following. He eventually published a book, and then broadened the scope of the “Humans” he was profiling.
In 2019, because of the pandemic, Stanton started taking submissions for Humans of New York stories from anyone, anywhere.
That help set up the crazy ride that set the internet on fire Thursday, March 3 – the story of Venus and Tripp. We don’t want to spoil any of the details for you, but it’s worth noting the way these stories unfold.
Stanton doesn’t post the full story all at once. He will post it in parts, usually 30 minutes to an hour apart. So that had people all over Twitter and Facebook talking about it all day, anxiously awaiting the next part.
The final part, part 13, dropped last night, and we’ve put them all together here for you. Buckle up for the crazy Venus and Tripp story, a heartbreaking, but ultimately truly inspiring story.
