Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis stage their first show as a comedy team at Club 500 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

"A Hard Day's Night" by The Beatles' is the #1 album in both the US and UK. It was released on United Artists records, the movie company's label.

Last Train to Clarksville is recorded by The Monkees. Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart wrote it. Mickey Dolenz sang it. Louis Shelton played the lead guitar on his Fender Telecaster.

U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy plead guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. This followed the tragic car crash and Mary Jo Kopechne drowning incident.

George W. Bush selected Dick Cheney to be his running mate on the Republican presidential ticket.

Aaliyah gave her final performance, singing "More Than a Woman" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Exactly one month later, flying back from a video shoot in the Bahamas, overloaded plane carrying her crashed and exploded on the runway. Everyone on board was killed.
