The weather is heating up, and that means it’s time to beat the heat at swimming pools and splash pads in and around the Fayetteville area.
School will be out soon and parents are always looking for fun, free activities to amuse and occupy the kids during the dog days of summer.
Like most parents, I’m always looking for ways to limit my kids screen time and get them outside. Fayetteville has a great solution to this conundrum with the addition of many local splash pads! Check out the list below for some great splashy, summertime fun!
All of the community splash pads opened up on May 1, according to a release from the City of Fayetteville. And swimming pools aren’t far behind, with a scheduled open date of Memorial Day, May 29.
“Splash pads are free and open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. except for the following modified operating hours while school is in session,” the City said. “Gray’s Creek, Lake Rim, and Spivey opens at 3 p.m. and E. Melvin Honeycutt and Massey Hill opens at 3:30 p.m.”
According to the City, for the swimming pools: “After opening on a Monday, the four pool facilities operate Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Keith A. Bates, Sr. Pool opens at 3 p.m. when school is in session. Admission for residents is $1 for ages 12 and under and $2 for ages 13 and up, non-residents are $2 and $4, respectively. Pool operations move to Saturday and Sunday only on Aug. 29. However, the last swim day of the season is Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5.”
