That is, except for a select few, whose style choices have landed them in our worst-dressed flop list. Sunday night's event has been dubbed the Met Gala of the West, serving as a celebration of cinematic achievement as well as a fundraiser for the museum’s educational initiatives and public programming.
The Honorees of the Evening
Among the night’s honorees are Meryl Streep, Michael B. Jordan, Sofia Coppola, and Oprah Winfrey. Already a 3-time Oscar winner, Streep was honored with the Icon Award, given to those who have made a significant global impact with their career. Meanwhile, the Creed star took home the Vantage Award, which honors an artist or scholar challenging dominant narratives in cinema. Meanwhile, Coppola took home the Visionary Award for her innovations in cinema. Finally, Winfrey rounds out the group with the Pillar Award for her leadership and her support of the museum.
Though film is the center of the annual star-studded Gala, fashion is still a major focus. Much like the Met Ball, the Academy Museum Gala draws some of the world’s top fashion houses who dresses Hollywood's elite. Valentino, Dior, Doce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent, Fendi, and Chanel are among some of the luxury brands that dressed the stars. The attendees included most of the Barbie cast, Zooey Deschanel, Zazie Beetz, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, a few cast members from The Idol, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angela Bassett, some of the Oppenheimer cast, Michelle Williams, Hailey Bieber, Keke Palmer, Kendall Jenner, Rashida Jones, Selena Gomez, Lupita Nyong'o, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Zoë and Lenny Kravitz, and many more.
See below the seven biggest flops of the night:
Chloë Grace Moretz

The 'Kicka--' star did two things wrong with her choice of gown: First, the shiny leather material and hue doesn't go well with her skin tone. Secondly, Moretz's tattoo placement under her armpit makes it look like hair or extra fabric coming out from under the dress.
Julia Garner

The 'Ozark' star's hair, makeup, and accessories are all amazing. It is her extremely awkward arm poses and the gown that we take issue with. The way the skirt part of the dress abruptly starts, it is giving hula skirt, not matching the ethereal silhouette of the top half of the dress.
Natalie Portman

The 'Black Swan' alum really toned things down with this very mundane gown. The actress wore a greenish bronze dress with a mesh leafy overlay, giving a very dated, modest look.
Anna Kendrick

We don't know what compelled the celebs to wear all these citrus-y colors at the event, but one thing we do know, is that this shade of orange completely washes out the 'Pitch Perfect' star's complexion. Plus, the dress' silhouette is so plain.
Tracee Ellis Ross

We are so saddened that the 'Girlfriends' alum did not have a look that hit, as we usually look forward to her outfit. Instead, she opted for a very itchy-looking tweed, boxy white gown with a little black bow that does absolutely nothing for the look.
Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner

This is a perfect example of using pretty privilege to get away with wearing the most boring, basic outfits. Hailey opted for a black sequined halter maxi with her hair pulled back, while Kendall blended in with the red carpet's red hue with her turtleneck maxi dress. Both of the models' looks are so not memorable.
Lily Gladstone

This tangerine-colored dress is an absolute mind f---, giving the illusion that the 'Killers of the Flower Moon' actress' legs should be where that fold is in front. Since her legs aren't there, it is giving a very strange illusion of some kind of bangs for the gown. Either way, it's hideous.
