St. John’s Rallies Cumberland County Music Community for Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert
Fayetteville, NC- St. John’s Episcopal Church, located at 302 Green Street, downtown Fayetteville, will host a Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert on Sunday, October 7th, at 2pm. Donations are welcome at the door and will go to hurricane disaster relief funds administered locally by Cumberland Community Foundation and United Way of Cumberland County.
The Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert will include local landmark ensembles such as members of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and Youth Orchestra, faculty and students from Methodist University as well as the Methodist University Chorale, the Fayetteville Academy, and local professional musicians. “It is truly a Community effort for the Community,” says Ryan Pagels, the newly appointed Director of Music at St. John’s. “We were very blessed that the church sustained minimal damage from the hurricane and the flooding that followed. Hosting this concert is a small way for us to give back to our community and help those who were significantly impacted.”
St. John’s is a historic downtown church established in 1817. The church has a legacy of active involvement in the Fayetteville community, supporting numerous outreach and community efforts including organizations such as the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Company, the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, Salvation Army, Operation Inasmuch, Fayetteville Urban Ministry and Connections of Cumberland County, among others.
