It’s Palm Sunday on the Christian Calendar…the first day of Holy Week, commemorating Jesus Last Days and Crucifixtion leading up to what Christians believe is His resurrection on Easter Sunday – to be celebrated a week from today. On Palm Sunday, Jesus arrives in Jerusalem to the salutation of a palm-waving crowd, humbly riding on the back of a donkey.
You’ve probably heard law enforcement organizations in our area and elsewhere are trying harder than ever to attract new members to their forces and organizations. In fact, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is having a hiring event this coming Tuesday the 26th from 9 to 3 at NCWORKS, 490 N. McPherson Church Road. They’ll be hiring on the spot for North Carolina BLETs-Trained personel to become Sheriff’s Deputies – annual pay of $50,750 and possibly qualifying for a signing bonus of $2500. The same $2500 bonus applies to qualifying individuals for BLETs Training who’ll be paid $45, 675 WHILE THEY TRAIN. The bonus also applies to Detention officers – paid $45,500 annually! Great benefits and insurance too! With an employer funded 401-K amoung the retirement benefits!

Lisa Hughes is the Executive Director of the Cumberland County Council on Older Adults! The services they provide are many – especially designed and created for adults 60 years of age and older in Cumberland County. But the Council is also especially great at sharing any information they can provide for free to anyone who wants it. And their rationale is simple! For every adult who needs a service they provide, there are probably several family members or friends or lending help to them as care givers…and the Council sees that help as vital to the well-being of their clientele!
So they’re more than willing and ready to pass long informational help at no cost to those who want to help!
