Talkback for Sunday December 31 2023. Fayetteville Police Chief Kem Braden (Part 2) and FAST (Transit) Compliance Manager Tiara Dougherty – City of Fayetteville Mar-Comm Director Loren Bymer on upcoming FAST Hiring Event
TODAY IS Sunday, December 31st, 2023. It’s New’s Year Eve. New Year’s Day is TOMORROW….and on behalf of Beasley Media Group, we wish everyone in our group of listeners a Happy and Safe New Year!
On last week’s Talkback. We featured Part 1 of a two-part conversation with Fayetteville Police Chief Kem Braden. In the 1st 20 minutes of our talk, Chief Braden explained how his adherence to the discipline his fairly strict raising provided him a recommendation to get into police work and how his first application led to his being hired at the Fayetteville Police Department almost 27 years ago. He’s worked his way up through the ranks and now leads a department of about 430 sworn law enforcement officers (that’s the full strength target) and about 180 more non-sworn staff employees.
That’s a considerable quantity of opinion and thought to vector and lead in the same direction. By most accounts he’s done well.
As you will hear Chief Braden describe during Part 2, Fayetteville police are great at solving crime and maintaining order, but really need the community’s help in preventing it. He says so much is in community control – from managing our family member’s attitudes – to simply saying something when we see something. Please listen as he explains how an ounce of cooperation can lead to a pound of cure. Listen too to his thought as to how much of gun violence that arises from poor conflict resolution starts with social media postings. A fascinating discussion picking up right where we left off last week talking about the police departments’s need for partnership with us, our concerned citizens and organizations.
