Here in North Carolina, we love summer, but along with hot days and steamy nights, we have those annoying party guests that most of us call bugs.
And not just a few bugs, but millions of them. Mosquitoes, flies and gnats, and that doesn’t even include the bugs that crawl around on the ground.
Our friends over at Thumbtack, an app that lets you find home services quickly and easily, put together a list of the 20 cities with the most bugs in the United States.
It’s no surprise at all that most of these cities are in the South. The warm temperatures – and the humidity – make for perfect breeding grounds for lots of bugs. And one city in North Carolina came up as among the worst in the country, with more bugs than almost every other major city.
“During summer months, the warm, humid weather can spell big trouble when it comes to mosquitos, ticks, flies, bees and other pests,” said David Steckel, Thumbtackâs Home Expert. “Keep bugs out all summer by turning on a dehumidifier, eliminating standing water in your yard and garden and by keeping screenless windows shut. Hiring a bug pest control professional can help identify areas for improvement and provide you with regular maintenance to avoid problems down the line.”
So which cities are the worst? And where does North Carolina come into play when it comes to the most bugs? Well, here’s the top 20 countdown of buggiest cities in the country.
