Walmart will remake 37 stores across North Carolina in 2026. Four sit in the Fayetteville area. The company shared this plan on April 16.

The remakes will bring new layouts, tech, and services to each store, along with more healthy food choices and popular items that shoppers want right now. Shoppers will find brands like De'Longhi, Oura, Jessica Simpson, and Lemme on shelves. Interactive screens will let customers picture how products might appear in their own homes, making decisions easier before they buy.

"Our stores have long been part of communities across North Carolina, and we're excited to keep investing in their future," said Annie Walker, senior vice president of East Business Unit at Walmart, per the Fayetteville Observer. "By modernizing our stores, we're making shopping faster, easier, and more convenient, all while empowering our teams to serve customers better and creating local opportunity."

This work follows what happened in 2025. About 40 North Carolina stores got remakes last year, including two at 2820 Gillespie St. and 8660 Cliffdale Road nearby. Over five years, the retailer has spent more than $848 million fixing up its North Carolina stores.

The 2026 work is part of a nationwide push. More than 650 stores will get renovations this year.

Work has started at the Walmart Supercenter at 3030 N. Main St. in Hope Mills. It will finish May 15. The Walmart Supercenter at 1550 Skibo Road in Fayetteville will see crews arrive this spring and leave this summer.

The Walmart Supercenter at 7701 S. Raeford Road in Fayetteville will start its remake this summer and wrap up in the fall. The Walmart Neighborhood Market at 4220 Legion Road in Hope Mills will begin later this summer and finish by winter.
