Student-athletes at Fayetteville State University crushed their books this fall. A total of 171 students achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher in Fall 2025. That's up from 151 back in spring 2025.

Ninety-three students posted a 3.5 or higher. Thirty-one got a perfect 4.0. The department averaged a 3.33 GPA across all sports.

Sixteen athletes walked at Winter Commencement and picked up their diplomas. This comes after Spring 2025, when the department set a record with a 3.42 average.

"These results reflect the consistency and commitment our student-athletes bring to everything they do," said Anthony Bennett, FSU Director of Athletics, per FSU Athletics. "Growing our 3.0+ cohort while maintaining near-record totals at the 3.5 and 4.0 levels, and celebrating 16 graduates, speaks to the culture our coaches, faculty, and academic support team are building at Fayetteville State."

Every single program at FSU puts students in the 3.0 club. Football dominated with 61 athletes hitting the mark, which is more than a third of all high achievers in the department. Women's Track & Field came in second with 25 students. Men's Basketball and Softball tied at 15 each.

Women's Basketball added 14. Volleyball brought 11. Cheerleading put up 10 names on the list. Golf and Men's Cross Country had six apiece. Bowling contributed five, while Women's Cross Country finished with three.

The numbers prove students work hard in class, whether they're on a huge team or a small squad. FSU Athletics runs structured study halls and tutoring sessions to help athletes stay on track.
