You don't need to register beforehand. Bring your old printers, laptops, TVs, and phones. They also accept video game systems and computers. Throwing these items in the regular trash isn't safe. Recycling keeps harmful materials out of landfills.
When gadgets get recycled, landfills last longer. It means less disruption to the land and even helps reduce greenhouse gases. You can't just throw TVs and computers in the trash, so recycling them is important.
The annual drive isn't your only option. Ann Street Landfill takes electronic waste all year, Monday through Saturday, during its regular hours.
Need extra help? The landfill shreds documents every Tuesday. For just $0.35 a pound, you can stop by from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Residents can also find 16 spots to recycle electronics, and it's free.
Before attending the event, remove SIM cards. Resetting devices to factory settings is a good idea. To learn more, check the Cumberland County Solid Waste Management website. You can contact their office at the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Courthouse for other questions.
