Target will open a second store in the Fayetteville area. The site sits near Camden Road and Waldo's Beach Road in Hope Mills. The building will span roughly 128,000 square feet.

The Minneapolis-based retailer hasn't yet added this site to its list of upcoming stores, but did confirm the location to The Fayetteville Observer, and it is shown on Development Review maps for the property. This marks the area's second Target after the Skibo Road store opened in October 1995.

Developer Murray-Grant released a drawing showing the Target bullseye in a retail plaza called Camden Commons. Target has just closed on this site, confirming strong market demand.

The new store sits between Rockfish, Camden, and Waldos Beach roads. This area has seen big growth since Jack Britt High School opened in 2000 on Rockfish Road. Traemoor Village shopping center operates across from the high school and Stoney Point Elementary, anchored by a Harris-Teeter grocery store.

A Publix shopping plaza is under construction on Rockfish Road across from Harris-Teeter. Southwest Cumberland County is getting a 35-acre development off Raeford Road just west of Interstate 295. The project, called Sandhills Gateway, will include retail and residential components covering 35,000 square feet.

Potential tenants for the Raeford Road development include Panda Express, Chipotle, and a Sheetz convenience store. Whataburger will also arrive as a new restaurant chain for the region.

The construction boom has led to roadwork on Raeford Road, Interstate 295, Gillis Hill Road, and Strickland Bridge Road. Infrastructure projects have created traffic delays for drivers. Traemoor Village area includes several restaurants and businesses, from Highway 55 to Wow Wow Hawaiian Lemonade to Pep Boys.
