Seventy-First Stars Frederick and Nance Sign with Campbell University on National Signing Day

Campbell University's football program hit the jackpot on National Signing Day, securing two star players from state runner-up Seventy-First High School.

Seventy-First has played in back-to-back state championship games, most recently falling in the NCHSAA 3A title game to West Charlotte in December. The talented duo of Campbell signees were key contributors in those championship runs.

Donavan Frederick, a powerful running back, rushed for 1,551 yards, had 19 rushing touchdowns, and 126 tackles in his senior year. DeAndre Nance put up incredible numbers throughout his 59-game career, amassing 9,352 total yards with 141 touchdowns.

"He (Nance) brings the high football IQ that you want in the general coverage piece of the defense and his good-sized frame. We think he's going to have a great career here on and off the field," linebackers coach Eric Daniels told The Fayetteville Observer.

Frederick and Nance joined four other signees for the Camels on National Signing Day. While Frederick was a running back in high school, Campbell has listed him as a linebacker for their program.
