Hayden Panettiere On Recovering From Child Stardom
Hayden Panettiere is ready for her comeback after stepping back from the spotlight to seek treatment for substance abuse. The Heroes alum actress told People in a new interview that, when she was younger, she relied heavily on her team to make her career decisions. When she was first introduced to illegal substances at 15 by someone on her team, she was too ignorant to know it was completely inappropriate. The “happy pills” she was offered to take ahead of interviews to make her “peppy” opened the door to her addiction issues.
Coming Out The Other Side
Following the birth of her daughter Kaya, 9, whom she shares with her ex, Wladimir Klitschko, she suffered from postpartum depression and grew even more dependent on drinking and drugs. Ignorant about the symptoms, the actress said it was difficult to reach the other side. “If you forget you were an addict, that can lead you astray,” she told the publication. Panettiere, 34, must always be aware of staying on the right path and doing what makes her happy, healthy, laugh, and sober. Since her recovery has been going well, she wants to return to acting and trusting her instincts.

For those who may be struggling with addiction issues, the Scream VI star says, “You can be happier than you’ve ever been in your life” with recovery. As an addict, Panettiere says it is hard to believe there is relief out there but to rely on people who have “come out the other side” and assure you it is possible to accomplish. Now, the child star has events for moderated conversations later this month. Titled “A Conversation with Hayden Panettiere,” the East Coast candid conversations have been postponed. Of the upcoming events, Panetierre says she will discuss her career and journey, sharing the lessons she’s learned along the way in an intimate and motivational setting.
