TikTok is extending its reach with its first-ever live global music event for fans. The popular social media app has announced a lineup that includes a little something for everyone: Cardi B, Niall Horan, Anitta, and Charlie Puth. The event, titled "In the Mix," will be hosted at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona, on December 10. In addition to the headliners, TikTok is planning to highlight musicians from its emerging artist program Elevate, with performances from Kaliii, Isabel LaRosa, Sam Barber, and Lu Kala. The program was launched in July, supporting rising talent to help them reach their dreams.

While at the first-of-its-kind live global music event, attendees can also experience TikTok’s For You feed in person, with activities inspired by what trends you see as you scroll on the app. For those unable to make the event in person, TikTok will broadcast the event via TikTok LIVE with appearances from creators and featuring highlights that look back on trends throughout the year. The LIVE video and event production are designed specifically for TikTok's unique vertical format by award-winning director Hamish Hamilton and Done+Dusted.

TikTok and Music

"No other platform mixes music, creativity, and community like TikTok. With 'In The Mix,' our goal is to bring the For You feed to life for fans at the venue and on TikTok," said Paul Hourican, TikTok's Global Head of Music Partnerships and Programming. "Our vision is to create a show that is reimagined for the TikTok era and our music-loving global community.” With its first foray into the live concert space, TikTok has continued to expand into areas beyond the app. Last week, TikTok’s parent company, Bytedance, launched TikTok Music in Australia, Mexico, and Singapore following a beta rollout in July. Last month, TikTok partnered with Billboard for its inaugural TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart.

As we've seen with trending videos, the music featured on them makes the song's popularity rise. For example, global powerhouse Cardi B (@iamcardib) has spurred infinite inspiration for trends on TikTok, with over 23.7 million followers and 29.6 billion #cardib views on the platform. In 2021, her smash hit "Up" was the center of a viral trend that first took TikTok by storm as fans showcased their creativity and dance skills by choreographing routines with over 1.3 million videos. The Cardi B effect is in full motion on the app for her new collaborative dembow hit "BONGOS," with her challenging fans to hit the dance themselves, earning 107,000 creator videos and growing.
