Analyzing data gathered from Google Trends, fashion retailer Boohoo has revealed the most popular Halloween costumes for each state during the 2023 spooky season. According to a report from CBS 17, the costume getting the most traction in the Tarheel state is none other than Wednesday Addams.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The Netflix original series Wednesday took the world by storm over the past year, with both the show and lead actress Jenna Ortega receiving rave reviews from critics and fans alike. That, combined with the titular characters distinctly dark and ominous fashion style, makes Wednesday Addams an obvious choice for trick-or-treaters across the country.

As popular as a Wednesday costume is this year, it's not the front-runner across the country. The top spot for most sought after Halloween costume belongs to none other than Barbie.

Let's face it, the entire year of 2023 belongs to Barbie. The colossally successful summer blockbuster caused an overwhelming surge in popularity for the classic toy. Is it any wonder why Halloween enthusiasts would be flocking to Amazon to buy as much pink attire as they can?

A Boohoo spokesperson commented on the popularity of the Barbie brand for this year's Halloween in a recent news release. "With many states choosing to dress up as Barbie, it proves that one of Margot Robbie’s biggest films to date is continuing to take over and dominate the fashion world."

Other notably popular pop culture costumes this year include DC Comics' Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, Princess Peach from The Super Mario Bros movie, and Gwen Stacy from the Spider-Verse films.
