The Grammy-winning artist celebrated the anniversary of her breakout album while giving her fans some good news about her follow-up that is in the works. "I cannot believe its been 2 years since SOUR came out," Rodrigo, 20, wrote in a hand-written note. "That album will always be so special to me & I'm so grateful to you guys for embracing it the way you have."
The singer said she spent the day "to reflect on all the amazing things that have happened since SOUR and looking fORward 2 all the things to come." Olivia bolded and capitalized the "OR" in forward for her initials and the number 2, hinting at the second album. She first posted the note via her newsletter and then migrated to her socials.
Taking to her Instagram, in which she boasts almost 32 million followers, Rodrigo shared a carousel of behind-the-scenes footage, including her reaction to seeing promotions of Sour. “oh man oh man oh man. SOUR turns 2 years old today," the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series said. "no words could ever describe how much this album means to me and how insanely grateful I feel for every blessing it has brought into my life. the new stuff is so so so so so close to being done I pinky promise."

In November, fans got the first hint that new music from the singer was on the horizon when she sent a video message out. “Hey, it’s Olivia! I just wanted to say thank you so much for listening to my music this year,” she said. “I really, truly couldn’t be more grateful and I’m so excited for next year, and all of the new things and new music that 2023 will bring. So I’m sending so much love your way and thank you again! Bye!”
