Britney Spears Reminisces About Justin Timberlake On Social Media

Britney Spears was reminiscing about her ex Justin Timberlake on social media, despite recently getting married to Sam Asghari in June of last year. The pop star shared a since-deleted throwback photo of herself and her fellow Mickey Mouse Club member Timberlake. Spears wrote: "When we used to shoot hoops TOGETHER … that's when miracles happened!!!" In July 2001, the former couple competed in the Challenge for the Children charity basketball game in Las Vegas, where they donned matching Knights jerseys emblazoned with “Stinky” and “Pinky” on the back.

Spears, 41, added, "I came out of my mom's stomach just like we all did!!! Psss … why always cast me out ??? I'm equal as all!!!" The "Hold Me Closer" singer and Timberlake famously dated from 1999 until 2002, and their split quickly turned messy after the former boy bander released his song "Cry Me a River" in 2002. The Spears lookalike in the video made it seem as though Spears cheated on him during their relationship. In 2003, she seemingly responded with her ballad "Everytime," with lyrics: “I may have made it rain / Please forgive me / My weakness caused you pain / And this song’s my sorry.”

The princess of pop's reference to their relationship comes nearly two years after Justin issued a public apology to her following the debut of the Hulu documentary Framing Britney Spears in 2021. Justin was featured in the film, and fans called him out for how he handled their relationship. He addressed this on Instagram, apologizing to both Spears and Janet Jackson.

He wrote: “I am deeply sorry for the time in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism. I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.” See the full post below:
