Helen Slayton-Hughes, ‘Parks and Recreation’ Actress, Dies at 92
Helen Slayton-Hughes, the actress best known for playing Ethel Beavers on the popular sitcom Parks and Recreation, has died. She was 92.
Slayton-Hughes’s death was confirmed in a joint statement via Facebook from her family. The statement reads, “To the friends and fans of our beloved Helen, Helen passed away last night. Her pain has ended but her fierce spirit lives on. Thank you for the love and support of her and her work. Rest sweet one.”
Slayton-Hughes appeared in only 11 episodes of the NBC sitcom, but she made her time count as evident by the “Best of Ethel Beavers” video below. Ethel Beavers was a court stenographer that worked on the fourth floor inside Pawnee City Hall.
In addition to Parks and Recreation, Slayton-Hughes’s other acting credits include appearance in three recent Netflix films: 2021’s He’s All That and Moxie and 2022’s The Curse of Bridge Hollow. She also appeared on a number of popular TV shows including The West Wing, Malcolm in the Middle, Desperate Housewives, Pretty Little Liars, True Blood, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Middle and Fresh Off the Boat.
