A ‘World of Jumanji’ Theme Park Is Coming to the UK In 2023

The World of Jumanji theme park is set to open in the UK in 2023. This entrance gate instantly should remind film fans of the Jumanji they love.

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to travel to the United Kingdom, would a Jumanji-related theme park do the trick?

Coming in the Spring of 2023, the “World of Jumanji” theme park will be opening as part of the Chessington World of Adventures Resort, in a partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“After being entertained by the films for so many years, fans now have the chance to experience Jumanji in a whole new dimension,” Jeffrey Godsick, an executive with Sony Pictures Entertainment said, “and we are thrilled to be going on this exciting adventure with the creative team at Chessington as Jumanji further expands with its very own themed land.”

According to a release from Merlin Entertainments, the $19 million park will take people into a world they’ll recognize from any version of the popular Jumanji films.

“The project brings together entertainment and industry experts from around the world as they create a world-first experience that deep dives into the adventurous, action-packed stories seen in the box office hit Jumanji films. For those who think they are brave enough to enter the world, a first look at some of the proposed designs give an exciting glimpse at what to expect. The impressive entrance portal, which is shrouded in the ominous and overgrown Jumanji jungle that dominates the development, creates the perfect immersive starting point for guests as they prepare to take on a whole host of challenges.”

There will be plenty of visuals that film fans will recognize instantly.

“The iconic and unmissable Jaguar Shrine structure looms 55ft tall, keeping a watchful eye out over all who enter as it awaits the return of the curse-lifting Jaguar’s Eye jewel. More details about the wild rides, adventurous attractions and drama-filled experiences guests can expect to discover in the ‘World of Jumanji’ are set to be shared over the coming months.”

Oh Bother. North Carolina Only 20th Happiest State in U.S.

Things have been stressful the last few years, so it would make some sense that North Carolina wouldn’t necessarily be the happiest state in the country.

And while things are certainly not TERRIBLE here, North Carolina only comes in as the 20th happiest state in America, according to a recent study from our friends at WalletHub.

“To determine where Americans exhibit the best combination of these factors, we examined the 50 states across 30 key metrics, ranging from the depression rate and the share of adults feeling productive to income growth and the unemployment rate,” WalletHub said in the study.

When you dive into the data, you feel the middle-of-the-pack Eeyore-like happiness we are experiencing here. Here’s where North Carolina ranked among the 50 states in a number of key metrics, with 1 being the happiest and 25 being average:

  • 29th – % of Depressed Adults
  • 20th – Adequate-Sleep Rate
  • 14th – Suicide Rate
  • 28th – % of Civilian Labor Force Unemployed 15 Weeks or Longer
  • 30th – Volunteer Rate
  • 29th – Separation & Divorce Rate
  • 13th – Income Growth
  • 19th – Safety
  • 29th – Share of Adults Feeling Active & Productive

The good people of Hawaii ranked as the happiest in the country, and why wouldn’t they? And the least happy state? Well, that goes to West Virginia, where economic impacts have kept things feeling pretty rough for a while now.

“Research suggests that having more money is associated with greater happiness on average – but only to a certain extent,” Dr. Emily C. Willroth, Assistant Professor, Psychological & Brain Sciences – Washington University in St. Louis told WalletHub. “Above a certain income level, income and happiness are less strongly related. This might suggest that money can buy happiness when it is used to meet basic needs and remove financial strain. Beyond that, money may be less important for happiness.”
