It’s Pumpkin Spice Season Already, as Krispy Kreme Gets Early Start

Behold! It's already Pumpkin Spice season, as Krispy Kreme is going full Basic on August 8.

Ignore the temperatures in the high 90s, it must be Fall, as Krispy Kreme has Pumpkin Spice season starting earlier than ever, on August 8.

In a press release Thursday, the North Carolina-based doughnut king announced that they’ll have four doughnuts, and two drinks, all with Pumpkin Spice themes, rolling out a month earlier than they did in 2021.

“Sure, pumpkin spice is generally associated with fall, but true fans of the flavor will agree that August is close enough,” said Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme. “So, we’re pulling fall forward, enabling our guests to indulge and enjoy early with delicious pumpkin spice doughnuts and drinks, including our Pumpkin Spice Latte, which you can get iced or frozen, by the way.”

According to Krispy Kreme, it’s full pumpkin spice lineup rolls out August 8 with these treats:

  • NEW Pumpkin Spice Latte Swirl Doughnut: A Pumpkin Spice Doughnut dipped in a pumpkin spice/sugar blend and topped with a swirl of vanilla and coffee buttercream.
  • Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed® Doughnut: A classic Original Glazed doughnut with a pumpkin spice twist.
  • Pumpkin Spice Original Filled Cheesecake Doughnut: A Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed doughnut with creamy cheesecake filing decorated with cheesecake icing.
  • Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut: A perfectly spiced old-fashioned cake doughnut covered in iconic glaze.
  • Pumpkin Spice Latte: A latte flavored with pumpkin pie sauce, topped with whipped cream and pumpkin spice seasoning – available hot, iced or frozen.
  • NEW Pumpkin Spice Iced Coffee: Iced Coffee blended with pumpkin pie sauce.

The new member of the doughnut family will be the Pumpkin Spice Latte Swirl Doughnut, and it sound heavenly. It’ll be available by itself, or as part of special Pumpkin Spice dozens.

“Pumpkin Spice in four different doughnuts? Yes please,” Krispy Kreme said. “Try our specialty dozen today, made of 3 Pumpkin Spice Latte Swirl Doughnuts, 3 Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed® Doughnuts, 3 Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnuts, and 3 Pumpkin Spice Original Filled Cheesecake Doughnuts.”

The Bragg Blvd. location in Fayetteville is listed as participating in the promotion, so feel free to treat your favorite radio hosts to all the Pumpkin Spice doughnuts you can handle.

Let’s face it, sometimes there’s just a need for a midnight snack. You know it, I know it, we all know it.

As much as you might like to behave, there are just times where your tummy is grumbling and you need to head to the kitchen. But what should you be eating in the middle of the night? Are some foods better than others?

According to the Huffington Post, there ARE foods that are much better to be consuming for your midnight snacks.

From foods that are healthy for you, to foods that will help you sleep a little better, there’s a lot to consider when it comes to this.

But there are some other things to consider before you start snacking too.

“Are you eating enough food (obtaining adequate calories/energy for your daily routine)? Are you eating too early and not eating enough before bedtime because of a fitness routine later in the day?” registered dietitian Barbara Ruhs told HuffPost.com. “Try adding an extra snack before bed or planning more mini-meals throughout the day to ensure you’re reaching your daily requirements.”

But in the meantime, there are some of the best foods for your midnight snack that might be better than others. Let’s take a look.

  • Sliced turkey

    The protein fills you up, and the tryptophan helps you sleep.

  • Cheese-and-crackers

    Cheese has tryptophan too, plus it’s easy.  Ideally, you should choose a cracker that’s high in fiber to keep your blood sugar from spiking.

    It’s a low-calorie option that’s also quick and easy.

  • Cherries and pistachios

    The fat and protein in pistachios will fill you up.  And studies have found cherries can help you sleep because they’re packed with melatonin.

  • Bananas and peanut butter

    Peanut butter is another food with tryptophan.  And the banana has potassium to relax your muscles and help you sleep better.

  • Cereal

    But it has to be low-sugar.  And eat it with milk, not dry.  The calcium in milk helps your body produce more melatonin.

    Opt for ones with nuts.  And stay away from chocolate or coffee-flavored bars.  The caffeine in those might keep you up.
