July 6, 1977 was obviously a beautiful day in Charlotte, North Carolina, as it was Bojangles Day. No, we don't know what the weather was like. Doesn't much matter. What does matter is that on that glorious day, the Lord saw fit to give us Bojangles, as they held a grand opening for the first location in North Carolina.

The good folks at the North Carolina Museum of History shared out some social media posts to mark the special occasion.

Ever since that spectacular day, Bojangles has blessed North Carolina with a grand opening seemingly every week, and wonderfully syrupy, sweet iced tea, delicious chicken, and of course ... the biscuits.

We could write a sonnet about how good Bo-Berry Biscuits alone are. For now though, we'll just munch on our four-piece Supremes and be thankful for the goodness that is Bojangles.

According to the Bojangles corporate website, the restaurant began in 1977 by Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas.

"Bojangles’® began in 1977 as the dream of operators Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas. They saw an opportunity to develop a quick-service restaurant chain based on three attributes: distinctive flavor profile; wholesome, high-quality products made from scratch; and a fun, festive restaurant design with fast, friendly service. Tands, Inc. joined the Bojangles’® team in 1980 and has been committed to those same high standards."

Praise the Lord and pass the gravy, it's National Fried Chicken Day in Fayetteville!

According to US Market Today, fried chicken’s a greasy, deliciously indulgent comfort food enjoyed all over the world. But did you know that the ultimate soul food originated in our own backyard — where Scottish chicken-frying methods were combined with West African seasoning traditions — to create what is now one of the world’s favorite guilty pleasures?

Fried chicken was an expensive delicacy up until World War II, but thanks to mass production techniques, we’re now able to indulge ourselves on the cheap in almost any city in the world. So on July 6, we get out our buckets ‘o’ chicken and napkins, because it’s our favorite holiday.

How popular is this tasty treat? According to National Today 16% of Americans would marry fried chicken! Hey, I get it. The dating pool could use a little fry grease.

"American fried chicken is considered the best, but Americans weren’t the first to do it. Europeans were already frying chickens back in the Middle Ages, but it was the Scottish immigrants to the U.S. who brought with them their tradition of deep-frying chicken in fat."
