Kris Jenner Didn’t Negotiate Kim Kardashian and Ray J’s Sex Tape
Ray J claims Kris Jenner was involved with negotiating his and Kim Kardashian’s sex tape, but apparently, the “momager” had nothing to do with the deal with Vivid Entertainment.
Per gossip website TMZ, Kris, 66, never negotiated with the porn film company, which distributed the tape back in 2007. Kim, 41, and Ray J, 41, dealt with Vivid directly and with their lawyers.
In his interview with Daily Mail, Ray J (real name Ray Norwood) maintains Kris and Kim came up with the plan to make a sex tape in the wake of the enormous financial success of Paris Hilton’s. Sources on the other side dispute that, maintaining Kris had nothing to do with planning the tape. This doesn’t mean that Kris wasn’t working behind the scenes, as Ray J claims.
“I’ve sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade-and-a-half talking about a topic I’ve never really spoken about,” Ray J told the UK publication. “I’ve never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak. It’s always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we’ve always been partners since the beginning of this thing.”
Although the Kardashians claimed they never signed off on the tape, Vivid couldn’t legally release it without the consenting signatures of Kim and Ray J. Kim sued Vivid before the tape was released and dropped the lawsuit because she and Ray J allegedly cut the deal they wanted and signed off on the release of the video. The duo split a $1 million advance, and together they got 49% of the $100 million in profits from the tape — around $49 million. It is the highest-grossing sex tape of all time, beating out Paris Hilton’s.
Today, Ray J regrets his role in the tape being released and feels that he has been villainized, ruining his career and other relationships. He said, “I felt suicidal because when you know something’s real and it’s true and you’re watching a whole family create an empire from a lie they’ve created, it’s heartbreaking and disrespectful to all the entertainers who have been honest and true to their craft.”
As we earlier reported, Ray J’s former manager, said that there is a “part two” of the infamous video that he is in possession of. The manager described the tape as “more graphic” than the first. However, Kim’s lawyer denied that such a tape exists saying, “The claim that there is an unreleased sex tape is unequivocally false. It is unfortunate that people make these statements to try and get their 15 minutes of fame.”
