NC 87 Still Shut Down After Tanker Truck Accident
An accident on NC 87 has traffic shut down in both directions, according to a release from Cumberland County. Traffic is expected to be impacted for several hours.

North and south bound lanes on North Carolina Highway 87 between Doc Bennet Road and Sandhill Road are closed due to an overturned tanker truck. North Carolina State Highway Patrol is on site to investigate, and North Carolina Department of Transportation is redirecting traffic.
Approximately 9,000 gallons of fuel were spilled when a tanker truck was involved in a two-vehicle accident at the corner of Tom Starling Road and N.C. Highway 87 Monday morning. Three individuals were transported to the hospital. There is no update on their condition.
Gray’s Creek Volunteer Fire Department Station 24 was the initial responder and established the Incident Command Post on site. Cumberland County Emergency Management, Vander and Cotton Volunteer Fire Departments joined the effort. The City of Fayetteville Fire Department Hazardous Material Team is on site to mitigate any spills caused by this accident.
