There is nothing guaranteed to draw attention on social media more than Marvel sending birthday wishes to someone long-rumored to be considering a role in the Marvel Universe.

Keanu Reeves celebrated his 57th birthday yesterday (September 2), and Marvel UK joined thousands of fans in wishing the Matrix actor a "happy birthday." Wishing an actor a "happy birthday" may not seem like a big deal, but what made it a little more conspicuous was that the post was deleted when fans began speculating on why Marvel would be wishing "happy birthday" to someone that isn't in any of their movies.

The post read," Keanu Reeves has had a career resurgence in recent years, and that was in no small part to the John Wick series of films. Keanu celebrates his 57th birthday today, and hopefully gets presents. Lots of presents."

Per Movieweb, fans theorize Keanu has been eyed up for roles as Namor, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, and many more characters that have yet to make their MCU debuts.

Here are a couple of Marvel fan theories of why Keanu Reeves was celebrated, then deleted:

Marvel tapping Reeves is something that has been an ongoing rumor for a long while now, with Marvel boss Kevin Feige revealing earlier this year that, "We talk to him for almost every film we make..." Feige said. "We talk to Keanu Reeves about... I don't know when, if, or ever he'll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it."

Why wouldn't Keanu make a great addition to the MCU? He took training for The Matrix very seriously, preparing for fight scenes almost every day of the week.

If it was the intention of Marvel to give themselves just a little more attention to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ring's cinematic debut today (September 3), then they have managed to create a buzz with the mention of Keanu Reeves on Twitter.
