Kylie Jenner broke the silence surrounding the controversy around her asking fans to donate to a GoFundMe over the weekend for celebrity makeup artist Samuel Rauda.
Gossip web site TMZ reported Jenner said she was “just trying to help an old friend pay medical bills and his family’s glad she did.”
Per the outlet, Jenner also disclosed that she doesn’t have a personal relationship with Sam anymore and called her current makeup artist named Ariel to find out what happened to him. When she learned of Rauda’s accident, she went to his GoFundMe and donated $5,000 after seeing that it had $6,000 in donations.
In order to bring more awareness, Jenner said she posted the GoFundMe link on her story, adding that it was “all a good thing,” and doesn’t know why people took it the wrong way.
Jenner said that Rauda’s family reached out to her via Ariel and they’re “very appreciative of all the donations, prayers and love towards Sam.”
Jenner’s post did not sit well with most fans, with many of them calling out Jenner for being more than capable of single-handedly funding the costs.
One Twitter user, Charlotte Clymer, said: “Folks are defending Kylie Jenner by pointing out she donated $5,000 to her makeup artist’s medical GoFundMe. Her net worth is $900M.
So, that’s 0.000006% of her net worth.
If your net worth were, say, $100k, it would be like donating 56 cents.”
