The Town of Hope Mills won't be holding their traditional Fourth of July fireworks and parade this year, as concerns about the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) still linger.

Monday night, the Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 to postpone the fireworks until October's "Ole Mill Days" celebration.

The town said it will hold a "porch parade" where residents are encouraged to decorate their yards and porches to celebrate Independence Day. More information will be coming on that celebration soon, the town said.

The City of Fayetteville had already announced it would not be holding this year's traditional symphony concert in Festival Park with fireworks on July 1.
