Arts Council Cancels Fayetteville’s International Folk Festival for 2020
The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County has announced that they are postponing the International Folk Festival, originally slated for September 25-27, 2020.
“We look forward to a stronger, more vibrant International Folk Festival in 2021,” says UniQue Webster, The Arts Council’s Director of Engagement and Strategic Partnerships. “We are certain we can count on the continued support of our devoted community and hope that many will join us next year,” she adds.
This year was to be the 42nd anniversary of this event, which highlights the diversity of our community, showcasing international cuisine and cultures from around the world. Leadership of the organization felt there were just too many uncertainties associated with the coronavirus, and they could not justify the risks of holding the festival this Fall. The health of thousands of festival-goers and hundreds of performers, volunteers, and staff is too important to take the chance.
The Arts Council is deeply grateful for the ongoing support of their members, as well as the sponsors, local leaders, and community members who make the International Folk Festival so successful year after year.
