Fort Bragg No Longer Announcing Base-Level Positive COVID-19 Cases
Fort Bragg officials announced Tuesday, that in accordance to new Department of Defense guidelines, they will no longer be announcing the number of positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on the installation.
The Department of Defense has said they will announce overall service members impacted, but to help with Operational Security concerns, they would stop the post-level counting.
“In keeping with our commitment to transparency, we will continue to work closely with our surrounding communities,” officials said in the release. “Fort Bragg’s cases have and will continue to be included in the counties where our affected individuals reside. We will continue this work with our local health officials as well as keeping leadership and all units across Fort Bragg informed of new cases to ensure the health and well-being of all.”
Fort Bragg will also be implementing visitor restrictions starting next week.
“The vast majority of our positive COVID-19 cases can be directly linked to individuals who traveled out of the region as well as those who have come from high-risk areas. Because of this, Fort Bragg will begin implementing visitor restrictions for those coming onto Fort Bragg starting early next week.”
Further details on the new policy are expected Wednesday afternoon, but Fort Bragg officials said: “This will NOT impact DoD ID Card Holders, to include Service Members, DA Civilians, dependents, and Retirees or Veterans who hold a Veterans Affairs issued ID Card.”
