The town of Southport, North Carolina is adjusting after eight police officers were suspended.
According to the Fayetteville Observer, Chief Gary Smith and Lt. Mike Simmons were working for a trucking company while on shift with the police force.
After they were arrested, the six remaining officers who make up the force were suspended, pending an investigation.
Of those six officers, several filed complaints against Smith and Simmons regarding their other job.
At this time, the town has asked the local sheriff's office to handle all policing duties until a thorough investigation has been conducted.
