Firefighters Help Rescue a Dog That Was Stuck in a Tortoise Hole

In Arizona, a dog was chasing a cat and managed to get himself stuck in a tunnel.

The tunnel was created by a giant tortoise who is a sibling to the dog. Owner of the furry four-legged pup, Toby Passmore was struggling to get the animal to leave the hole. Naturally, he enlisted the help of the local fire department. Firefighters arrived on the scene “with people and shovels and, with the help of a city backhoe” says the Associated Press.

With all of these tools, the rescuers were will having issues unearthing the 6-foot-deep hole. After much digging and a lot of work, Passmore was able to wedge himself into the tortoise hole.

As he wiggled down the deep, underground development he noticed his little Scottish Schnauzer hiding. The cat, scared and corned on the other side of the dog. Passmore noted to the Associated Press that the dog “was willfully inside the hole”.

Silly animal! He didn’t realize what he was getting himself into my chasing a cat. Us humans know that all cats are secretly trying to take over the world. Clearly, this cat’s first mission was to get the dog wedged in the hole.

Luckily, Passmore was able to grab his dog out from the hole. Both the owner and the dog surfaced unharmed, however, they were both very dirty! We can imagine that after the scene died down, it was bath time for both the dog and the owner. Since the cat was severely frightened, firefighters left the hole open for the feline to emerge on its own time. However, we are sure the cat also survived the scenario.

As for the tortoise, well he is probably laughing his giant shell off! Hopefully, Passmore will be a little bit more careful about his tortoise’s backyard habits.
