Their brand uses recycle coffee grounds to make sports bras. Yes, this may sound like a magic trick, but it is helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
Founder of the company, Melissa Chu created the company in San Francisco.
According to Bustle, the former yoga instructor created the company in order to become more “environmentally responsible.” Each of their “products were environmentally impactful and contributing to the solution, not being a part of the problem. RUMI X is about living a mindful lifestyle, taking care of yourself within, and being good to the world around you.”
Bras are not the only products that use recycled items. Their garments utilize 16 plastic bottles to create “sustainably crafted sportswear.” RUMI X also prides themselves on using water-based ink dyes in order to give their clothing a little color. By wearing their clothing, you are not only feeling good about yourself but also making the world a better place.
As reported on their website, they create their coffee ground sports bras in an ingenious manner. The company stated, “coffee grounds are collected from coffee shops to a recycling facility where the magic happens and waste turns into re-usable goods.” By extracting the coffee’s oils, the leftover grounds are then spun into recycled raw thread. The thread is then made into yarn and then created into fabric!
Garments made from plastic bottles go through a similar process. All packaging is removed before the bottles are shredded into flakes. The flakes are then transformed into yarn and then spun into fabric.
Someone call the ministry, we are pretty sure there is magic happening in the muggle world.
