Prince Would Have Turned 59 Today
On this day today in 1958, Prince, one of the music industry’s most prized possessions, would have turned 59.
Also known as The Purple One, Prince defied the norm, creating a genre so unique that would last through generations. I wasn’t even born when some of Prince’s biggest hits were on the radio, but I jam out to them as if the singer is still alive and making music. What a day it would be to see his face appear on a People or Entertainment magazine with an upcoming concert date as if nothing had changed. Only in my dreams!
What really made him stand out among other artists was his ability to put together a musical sound that blends pop, funk, r&b, soul, disco, rock and jazz. He was multi-talented and his music is timeless. You could see him rockin’ out on the guitar, playing the piano or finding just the right beat on the drums.
Prince taught me a valuable lesson, to live my life to the fullest and not take anything for granted. He says it himself in my personal favorite Prince song, “1999”:
Life is just a party and parties weren’t meant to last.

According to Quora.com, the iconic Prince sold more than 100 million records and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for Purple Rain in 1985.”
His top songs include “1999”, “Delirious”, “Purple Rain”, “Bat Dance”, “Kiss” and “When Doves Cry”.
