Single People Spend HOW MUCH On Dating?

If you're single, it's no shock that your dating life is expensive.

But a new survey by Match.com reveals exactly how pricey it is try to meet The One. The survey found that single people are spending an average of $1,596 a year on their dating life. This number jumps even higher in certain cities, like Washington, D.C. and New York.

Where exactly is all of that cash going? The figures include dating site costs, meals, bar tabs, pre-date prep (think manicures and blowouts), plus fees for dating-related events or matchmaking services. The survey also found that how single people approach paying the bill at the end of the night changes depending on how old they are. For example, millennials are much more likely to offer to split the tab than their baby boomer counterparts. Check out the rest of the survey's findings here.
